​To support Hong Kong’s transformation into a smart city, CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) will install smart meters for all its customers over seven years from now until 2025 and provide customers with a range of digitalised services and solutions to encourage energy saving and further improve supply reliability.

​CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) today (17 November) hosted a Sharing the Festive Joy Senior Citizens Day Luncheon in partnership with the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals for 250 elderly guests from Kowloon City, Tsuen Wan, Shatin, and Kwun Tong. Guests enjoyed a luncheon with a theme of classic Cantonese films from the old days cinema and received energy saving tips from CLP volunteers.

​CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) today presented Green Elites Campus accreditation to 17 Sheng Kung Hui (SKH) primary schools in recognition of their efforts to promote environmental education to pupils in the 2017/18 academic year. More than 13,000 students took part in a broad range of green education activities. Four of the schools received the Most Outstanding Award for their exceptional performances. Pupils from those schools will join Green Power nature tours to Sharp Island Geopark, Hoi Ha Wan Marine Park, or the Nam Sang Wei wetland area. (See appendix for full list of winners.)

CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) today held a prize presentation ceremony to honour the winners of its first Smart Energy Award programme, recognising the performance of commercial and industrial customers in energy management and the use of renewable energy and smart technology.

​CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) today announced the price of each unit of electricity generated by renewable energy sources under the Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) scheme will be HK$0.5, with RECs available at a minimum purchase of 100 units. The certificates will be available to CLP Power customers from 1 January 2019.

Following the departure of the typhoon, the emergency service teams of CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (“CLP Power”) continue the repair and power restoration works for customers. The number of affected customers has been reduced from about 40,000 on 16 September to about 7,500 as of 7am today (18 September).

Following CLP Power’s repair and restoration works today (18 September), the remaining number of customers who are yet to have their electricity restored is expected to be reduced from about 40,000 customers on 16 September to about 1,500 customers at midnight today, mainly remote villages located in the northern New Territories.  It is expected almost all customers will have their electricity supply restored progressively tomorrow (19 September) except about 200 located in very remote areas at Kat O and Ap Chau areas where power restoration will require longer time.

Following the departure of Severe Typhoon Mangkhut last evening (16 September), CLP Power’s emergency service teams immediately kick-started the repair and power restoration works for customers.  As of 3pm today, power supply to about 13,500 customers, mainly covering New Territories North, Yuen Long and Sai Kung, has yet to resume. According to emergency service teams, many of the affected customers are located in the remote areas in the New Territories where roads are blocked by fallen trees and debris, making access to these sites and restoration works extremely difficult.

​While Hurricane Signal No. 10 was in force, CLP Power Hong Kong Limited ("CLP Power")’s 400kV and 132kV overhead lines systems were affected under the extreme adverse weather.

The Group’s operating earnings were HK$7,886 million, an increase of 33.3% compared with the first half of 2017 with dependable results in our core market of Hong Kong and a solid performance in our overseas businesses. Total earnings increased by 25.8% to HK$7,436 million. With confidence in the long-term outlook for the company, the Board increased the level of our first and second interim dividends from HK$0.59 per share in 2017 to HK$0.61 per share this year.

​CLP Innovation Enterprises Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of CLP Holdings Limited (CLP), has signed two new agreements with partners in Thailand to strengthen collaboration on technologies intended for deployment in smart city environments.

The CLP Power Academy run by CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) today (6 July) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Vocational Training Council (VTC) to launch a new Part-time Power Engineering Diploma programme, aimed at providing upward mobility opportunity for young working people who want to pursue careers in the power industry.

CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) today welcomed the decision by the Executive Council of the Hong Kong SAR Government to approve its Development Plan for 2018-2023. CLP Power also announced the first tariff package under the new Scheme of Control Agreement (SCA) which comes into effect on 1 October 2018. The tariff package will apply for 15 months until 31 December 2019. At the same time, a new Monthly Fuel Cost Adjustment will be introduced to reflect fuel price changes in a timelier manner.

The Honourable Sir Michael Kadoorie, Chairman of CLP Holdings (CLP), led a delegation of senior executives to visit the Yangjiang Nuclear Power Station in Guangdong Province on 21 May 2018. The visit followed CLP’s acquisition of a 17% equity interest in Yangjiang Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. from CGN Power end of last year.

More than 1,200 packages of major components, including a gas turbine weighing 50% more than the world’s largest passenger aircraft, have been successfully delivered in a new milestone for CLP Power Hong Kong Limited’s (CLP Power) construction of an additional gas-fired generation unit at the Black Point Power Station in Tuen Mun. The new gas-fired generation unit is expected to go into commercial operation by 2020.

​CLP Power Hong Kong (CLP Power) today announces the details of an upgraded CLP Eco Building Fund that will award HK$100 million a year to subsidise energy saving projects. The fund will support improvement works in the communal areas of around 400 residential blocks and commercial and industrial buildings a year and save an estimated 48 GWh of electricity – equivalent to the annual energy consumption of 11,000 households and approximately HK$55 million in energy costs.

​CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) launches its Power Your Love programme today under the theme of “Save Energy, Save On Bills and Light Up Lives”. Residential customers are encouraged to save energy at home in summer. CLP Power will donate the energy saved to about 20,000 families in need by offsetting their electricity expenses.

CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) today held a CLP Volunteer Appreciation Ceremony to honour employees for serving the community with care and professional expertise in 2017. The CLP Volunteer Team contributed nearly 15,000 hours of service last year, with one individual contributing 216 hours of volunteer work. This year, CLP Power presented a new Power Expert Volunteer Award to recognise CLP volunteers who use their expertise in rewiring works and home electricity safety checks to help people in need.

​CLP’s 2018 Annual General Meeting attracted 2,100 shareholders, setting a new company record.

​The new Scheme of Control Agreement (SCA) between CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) and the Hong Kong SAR Government will come into effect on 1 October 2018. ​According to our understanding, the welders being recruited by our contractor company are to work for the construction of the additional gas‐fired generation unit at the Black Point Power Station of CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power). As the construction of the generation unit’s boiler which is of the latest technology requires special welding skills, it is required that welders equipped with the relevant qualifications and technical skills are employed to carry out the work concerned.

​CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) has been voted the Most Attractive Employer out of 75 largest companies in Hong Kong at the Randstad Employer Brand Awards 2018, the second time since Randstad launched this award in Hong Kong in 2013. The award is a public survey conducted by international human resources services firm Randstad. ​CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU)-affiliated College of Professional and Continuing Education (CPCE) today (28 March) signed a Memorandum of Understanding in establishing the partnership in nurturing more talents in electrical engineering to cope with the needs brought about by continuing social development.  A newly launched Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Electrical Engineering Programme has started its admission period and, subject to approval from PolyU, the programme is expected to commence in September 2018.

In 2017, Group operating earnings increased 7.9% to HK$13,307 million from 2016. Total earnings were up 12.1% to HK$14,249 million. CLP Holdings Limited (CLP) is pleased to announce that in the first half of 2017 the Group continued to deliver largely stable earnings amid challenging markets and secured regulatory certainty in Hong Kong.

During this period, the Group's operating earnings were HK$5,914 million, a decrease of 3.8% compared with the first half of 2016, largely due to unfavourable market conditions in Mainland China and the impact of increased volatility in the Australian energy market. ​Castle Peak Power Company Limited (CAPCO) announces that its wholly-owned subsidiary Castle Peak Power Finance Company Limited has successfully priced US$500 million 3.25% senior unsecured notes due 2027 (the Notes) under Castle Peak Power Finance Company Limited's US$2 billion Medium Term Note Programme (MTN Programme). The Notes will be unconditionally and irrevocably guaranteed by CAPCO, rated A1 and AA- by Moody's and Standard and Poor's, respectively, and listed on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited.

​Around 6,000 students from 32 secondary schools have completed a new Engineer in School programme organised by CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) to help nurture talent for the future of the power industry. CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) is deeply saddened by the death of three contractor workers resulting from an industrial accident which occurred in Hung Hom today (10 July). The company would like to express its deepest condolences to the families of the deceased.

​To combat climate change and support the government’s vision to develop Hong Kong into a smart city, CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) today announced the launch of a one-year Smart Energy Programme, for which smart meters have been installed for 26,000 selected residential customers.  With the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system, customers are given timely access to data on their electricity consumption, and are encouraged to lower their energy use at peak times and save on electricity bills through a change in their consumption habits.

​Today’s customers demand smart energy solutions to keep pace with fast-changing trends in technology. To meet those rising expectations, CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) has given its customer service centre in Yuen Long a major facelift to transform it into a Smart Energy Experience Centre. The company has also partnered with the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) to introduce smart home devices suitable for small flats in Hong Kong at the centre, using innovative technology developed by start-up companies in the HKSTP to promote smarter, greener, low-carbon lifestyles.

​CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) attaches great importance to innovation and knowledge sharing, and is a keen supporter of the government’s promotion of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education. ​CLP Holdings Limited (CLP) is pleased to announce today that Group operating earnings in 2016 increased 7.1% to HK$12,334 million from a year earlier. Total earnings were down 18.8% to HK$12,711 million after taking into account one-off items that affected comparability including a significant contribution from the sale of the Iona Gas Plant in Australia in 2015. The Board has recommended a fourth interim dividend for 2016 of HK$1.09 per share which, together with the three dividends already paid, brings 2016’s total dividends to HK$2.80 per share, an increase from HK$2.70 in the previous year.

​Following the directives and continuous support from the Environmental Protection Department (EPD), CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power), operator of Castle Peak Power Company Limited (CAPCO), announced a preliminary agreement between CAPCO and the West New Territories (WENT) Landfill contractor, a subsidiary of SUEZ, to support the Government’s policy of promoting waste-to-energy and renewable energy initiatives. Subject to the final consent under the EPD’s landfill contract by the EPD, CAPCO will install power generation units on the site which will utilise landfill gas as fuel. The electricity produced will then be transmitted to CLP Power’s existing power grid.

​In the first six months of 2016, the Group’s operating earnings were HK$6,149 million, an increase of 11.3% compared with the corresponding period in 2015. This reflected growth in both our core business in Hong Kong and our overseas operations. The Group’s total earnings for the first half of 2016 were HK$6,125 million, a rise of 7.0% from the same period of last year. These positive results have enabled us to raise the level of both our first and second interim dividends from HK$0.55 per share a year ago to HK$0.57 per share in 2016.

​In response to the government's policy to increase the use of natural gas in power generation, CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) is taking forward the development work to build an offshore liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Hong Kong waters. The project will not only enable Hong Kong to have direct access to the international market for gas supplies at competitive prices and enhance the city's bargaining power for natural gas purchases, but also improve Hong Kong's energy security with diversified sources of natural gas. A project profile of the proposal has been submitted to the Environmental Protection Department and is now available for a 14-day public inspection.

CLP Holdings (CLP) is pleased to announce today that a significant growth in overseas earnings has contributed to record performance in 2015. During the year, the Group’s operating earnings increased 15% from a year earlier to HK$11,533 million, driven primarily by a 29% increase in the contribution from overseas businesses. Total earnings were up 40% to HK$15,670 million. Rises in operating earnings were recorded in all of our five geographical divisions, most notably in India and Mainland China. The Board has recommended a fourth interim dividend of HK$1.05 per share for 2015. Together with the three interim dividends already paid, our total dividend this year is HK$2.70 per share, an increase from HK$2.62 on the previous year.

​CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power), operator of Castle Peak Power Company Limited (CAPCO), announced a contract signed between CAPCO and CNOOC Limited yesterday (4 February) to bring in natural gas from the Wenchang Gas Field in the South China Sea using the existing Yacheng pipeline. The gas is expected to reach Hong Kong from 2018 onwards, providing a medium term supply of natural gas to CLP Power.
