Following the same model of cooperation at Changdao Wind Farm, CLP and a subsidiary of China Huaneng Group jointly developed another wind power project in Shandong at Weihai. With a total capacity of 69MW, Weihai Wind Farm supplies electricity to the nearby coastal area.

Weihai I comprises of 13 x 1.5MW units wind turbines from Sinovel and was commissioned in 2007, while Weihai II was commissioned in 2008. Both phases registered as "Clean Development Mechanism" (CDM) projects with the United Nations in February 2008.
